Viktoria

As Marek Sr. recalls: “when my wife was seven months pregnant, we flew to Provence and were discussing names for our soon-to-be-born child. In the end we stuck with Viktorie, a name that was distinctive and not very common. We agreed that it would be the right one for a daughter born under the sign of Leo. A year later, I tried working with white wine in a French barrel for the first time. I had no one to turn to for advice, so I tried letting all the white Pinot-family varieties age in new barrels to decide which was the right one. The decision was easy: all three worked best together! This expressive, self-confident wine needed a name, and my wife made the same decision as she did on the plane a year ago. The blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris was thus named after our daughter, whom we’re trying to raise with as much independence as this singular white cuvée.
